In this article, we explore three of the carefully selected, trusted brands of which we offer to our customers.
Originally founded in 1887 as “Accumulatoren-Fabrik Tudorschen Systems Büsche & Müller OHG”, Adolf Müller recognised the market potential for accumulators which a year later grew into the production of lead-acid batteries accompanied by International expansion. In 1890, when joined by AEG and Siemens, the company name was changed to Accumulatorenfabrik AG (AFA).
The first use of the name VARTA came via the founding of a subsidiary in Berlin in 1904 distributing small, portable lead batteries. VARTA stands for ‘Vertrieb, Aufladung, Reparatur, Transportabler Akkumulatoren’.
Throughout the company’s development and growth it has achieved world renowned milestones such as the development of leakproof acid batteries for airplanes and the launch of the first standard starter battery, suitable for any passenger car.
Today, known as the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers and trusted by names such as Audi, BMW and Ford, VARTA have demonstrated their importance within the battery industry.
Numax, formerly Snowdon Batteries is recognised across the UK and Ireland for its quality at a mid-market price.
The ranges available reach a large target audience that extends beyond automotive and commercial power to marine, motorsport, leisure and even as a charger range known as the ‘Connect+Forget’
Introduced by Manbat in 2002, we recognise the growth of Numax within the industry as a key player as they continue to produce high quality products with the consideration of customers at forefront of the business.
Prior to starting his established company in 1872, Joseph Lucas began his business life as a dealer in paraffin oil. He soon progressed, opening a workshop just 3 years later with a product range that eventually included the first “King of the Road” cycle lamp released in 1878. After obtaining an official patent and eventually trademarked in 1884, the cycle lamp was a major product for Lucas for a further 80 years.
After much continued development of Lucas, by the 1900s, the range of products had extended to include accessories for cycles, motorcycles and cars and was recognised within the motor vehicle industry. By the 1920s, Lucas was the largest supplier of electrical equipment to most British vehicles.
Throughout the rest of the 20th Century, Lucas continued with expansion across Europe within the motor industry and introduced a change of brand to the recognisable green image we know today.
Manbat is the sole UK distributor for the Lucas range of batteries who continue to be known and associated with high quality.
