Lucas Battery Catalogue
CAAR members will be pleased to hear that Manbat, the UK’s leading automotive battery distributor, has launched its latest product directory in the form of the 2013/14 Lucas Battery Catalogue, which is the first edition to be completely designed and compiled by Manbat.
The high quality publication is produced in full colour throughout and each Lucas battery product group – automotive, commercial vehicle & agricultural, industrial, golf, motorcycle, leisure & marine, mobility and emergency standby power (fire, security & electrical systems) – is superbly presented with colour photographs and a detailed description of the specifications, benefits and applications that are most appropriate to that particular group of batteries.
In order to ensure that members specify the correct battery to their customers, there is also a comprehensive model-by-model application list that covers almost 300 manufacturers across each of the Lucas battery product groups.
A detailed product specification section that provides full details of battery dimensions, terminal size and terminal orientation, is followed by important COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) information, to ensure the safe transportation and storage of batteries.
However, the comprehensive publication is more than a simple product catalogue, it’s a complete battery specification and application guide and therefore provides members with an easy-to-use reference tool. Manbat has applied its unrivalled battery knowledge to produce a publication that covers every aspect of battery specification so the batteries are listed by vehicle make and model, battery capacity, type and case size.
Also featured are sections focusing on battery characteristics and fault diagnosis, battery testing procedures, health and safety information, CCA testing with digital testers and Manbat’s environmental policy.
One of the most important subjects covered however is that of battery scrap and recycling. In this section members can find out how Manbat can help them with their battery waste management and where Manbat fits in the ECOBAT Technologies group.
Being part of this organisation, allows Manbat to adopt its closed recycling loop policy, which ensures that the waste batteries it collects are 99.97% recycled, and the lead content refined and fed back into the lead battery industry for the production of new batteries thus, completing the loop.
To accompany this excellent publication, Manbat has also produced a range of point-of-sales (POS) material to inform members and their customers to the depth of the range and the many practical applications that the products are compatible with.

Experience Professional To Head The Team
Another development that will assist CAAR members is the appointment of Paul Payne as Manbat’s new sales director to replace Jon Bailey who recently returned to VARTA®. Paul has come from DENSO International Europe, where he spent five successful years as the company’s regional manager for UK and Ireland.
