Let Manbat Help To Put The Focus On Profit
Busy motor factors are generally very hectic environments that are highly geared to the needs of their customers, which often means they are far less focused on themselves and their own individual requirements.
With this fact not withstanding, Manbat Ltd, supplier of premium quality VARTA®, Lucas and Numax batteries will continue to encourage them to take a moment and consider some of the highly profitable opportunities that other non-automotive battery sales can provide.
First on the list for factors that are located close to Britain’s thousands of miles of inland waterways or near the coast, could be Numax marine batteries, which are the original equipment (OE) fitment for such well known brands as Sunseeker and Princess Yachts. Marine batteries command a higher price and greater margin than their automotive cousins, which makes them an attractive proposition for factors interested in increasing their profits.
Over the last few years there has been a massive increase in the number of people willing to have a camping holiday in the UK, as well as a growing number of ‘young pensioners’ with disposable income to spend on leisure activities such as caravanning and motor caravanning. So alongside marine, the leisure battery market has also grown and these too can yield excellent returns, as they are considered an aspirational purchase that improves a lifestyle, rather than their automotive counterparts, which are a distress purchase that is purely a cost and inconvenience.
Other leisure related activities that are also able to open the doors for factors willing to consider the bigger picture include the golf and motorcycle sectors.
With new motorcycle registrations continuing to increase year-on-year and the stock of second hand vehicles also on the rise, the opportunity to benefit from the supply of motorcycle batteries grows proportionally.
When it comes to motorcycle batteries, in common with its automotive offering, Manbat provides a choice of brands, so in addition to its own Numax Motosport range, it also supplies the renowned Lucas brand, as well as the crème de la crème VARTA OE range.
In the same way that there is a clear similarity in the technology incorporated into both automotive and commercial vehicle (CV) batteries, such a link also exists between automotive and motorcycle batteries. Therefore, just as many factors are comfortable in supplying both automotive and CV batteries, motorcycle batteries should hold no fear for those considering new opportunities.
Finally, as can be witnessed by the number of batteries that Manbat continues to automotive industry charity BEN, the need for high quality batteries to power the growing number of mobility vehicles and related equipment, shows no sign of slowing down. As a result, there are also opportunities for to supply the batteries to the many mobility retail outlets that are popping up on many a high street.
Although many will primarily know Manbat for its automotive and CV batteries and the automotive sector is where the company has its roots, Manbat has been supplying batteries into all the aforementioned sectors, and more, for many years, so it has the knowledge and experience necessary to help factors develop their battery business.
Manbat has long been an advocate for factors to extend their excellent battery knowledge and experience into other complementary sectors, particularly the leisure and marine industries, so the fact that it is now an approved supplier to the NCC, the UK trade body for the tourer, motorhome, holiday home and park home industries, opens even more doors for them.
“Although hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts rely on Numax and Lucas products, we believe that NCC membership will provide them with added reassurance of the quality of our products, which will certainly help factors looking to increase their battery sales,” explained Manbat’s marketing manager, Myles Pemberton.
“To provide enthusiasts with the assurance that the products they purchase are fit for purpose, the NCC has a Verified Accessories Register and a Verified Component List, which is where its Verified Leisure Battery Scheme comes in for batteries.
“The scheme is designed to bring transparency to the leisure battery marketplace and help consumers select a product that’s right for them, which is why it’s great news for factors that offerings within the Numax and Lucas leisure ranges are approved in all relevant NCC Categories.”
The rationale behind the scheme is to provide product verification that batteries used in leisure vehicles (touring caravans and motorhomes) will perform as the manufacturers claim. In addition, the NCC is also encouraging its leisure vehicle member manufacturers to fit NCC verified leisure batteries as original equipment.
Battery verification comes following a comprehensive testing process conducted by suitably certified and audited test houses. Batteries are verified, and labelled accordingly, into three categories: A, B and C, depending on their capacity and intended purpose.
“Of course, there are many other opportunities beyond the leisure sector,” Pemberton continued “and so with our longstanding experience, allied to the fact that we supply batteries and their accessories across numerous industries, we are fully equipped and able to assist factors expand into any area where they see an opportunity.
