NCC Approval Opens The Doors For Members
Although it’s the UK’s largest automotive battery distributor and leading member of ECOBAT’s battery distribution division, GROUPAUTO members primarily know Manbat as a trusted partner supplying them with great brands such as VARTA®, Lucas and Numax.
Manbat has also long been an advocate for members to extend their excellent battery knowledge and experience into other complementary sectors, particularly the leisure and marine industries, so the fact that it is now an approved supplier to the NCC, the UK trade body for the tourer, motorhome, holiday home and park home industries, opens even more doors for them.
“Although hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts rely on Numax and Lucas products, we believe that NCC membership will provide them with added reassurance of the quality of our products, which will certainly help GROUPAUTO members looking to increase their battery sales,” explained Manbat’s marketing manager, Myles Pemberton.
“To provide enthusiasts with the assurance that the products they purchase are fit for purpose, the NCC has a Verified Accessories Register and a Verified Component List, which is where its Verified Leisure Battery Scheme comes in for batteries.
“The scheme is designed to bring transparency to the leisure battery marketplace and help consumers select a product that’s right for them, which is why it’s great news for members that offerings within the Numax and Lucas leisure ranges are approved in all relevant NCC Categories.”
The rationale behind the scheme is to provide product verification that batteries used in leisure vehicles (touring caravans and motorhomes) will perform as the manufacturers claim. In addition, the NCC is also encouraging its leisure vehicle member manufacturers to fit NCC verified leisure batteries as original equipment.
Battery verification comes following a comprehensive testing process conducted by suitably certified and audited test houses. Batteries are verified, and labelled accordingly, into three categories: A, B and C, depending on their capacity and intended purpose.
“Of course, there are many other opportunities beyond the leisure sector,” Pemberton continued “and so with our longstanding experience, allied to the fact that we supply batteries and their accessories across numerous industries, we are fully equipped and able to assist members expand into any area where they see an opportunity.
“In order to further highlight these options, Manbat is exhibiting at Automechanika Birmingham in June, so this gives members the chance to explore the possibilities.
“In addition, the event also allows their customers to keep up to speed with developments and opportunities in the battery market, such as the growth in Start-Stop batteries and the need for their validation when they are replaced, as well as the logic of carrying out complementary battery testing on each vehicle that comes in for service.
“Alongside the premium brands that the company supplies are several high quality accessories that cater for the needs of the professional user. Among these is the NOCO Genius range, a truly compact series of intelligent chargers suitable for everything from motorcycle and car to boat and commercial vehicle, plus a ground-breaking range of powerful, but glove box-sized booster packs.
“For all of these reasons, we are extremely excited by the prospect of Automechanika Birmingham, as it’s a great opportunity to ‘shop window’ our products and service to all levels of the UK trade.
“Since becoming part of the ECOBAT Technologies Group, we’ve exhibited at Automechanika Frankfurt and believe some of the vibe of that event will also rub off on the show here in the UK.”
